Silence of the Lambs - Movie Review

This is another good movie I wasn't alive to witness earlier. It's definitely a beautiful piece of art, in movie form. As people have probably told you before, Anthony Hopkins was brilliant in this film as Hannibal Lecter. Jodie Foster was amazing, too. Overall, it was just an outstanding movie. There is nothing wrong with it whatsoever. It may take a little while to get into but so what! It was suspenseful, the acting was great, and I couldn't stop watching. A

Rage Against the Machine - Album Review

This highly political album from the 90's is definitely all expectations for me. I'm young, so I wasn't even alive when this came out, but my awesome dad introduced me to these guys. This is definitely my favorite album at the time, and will be for a long time. It gives you a great adrenaline rush and still has meaning in their music. Some people have criticized bands for adding politics in their music is a bad idea, due to the fact that it's just yelling at a bunch of 12 year olds about something they don't understand. Rage isn't trying to start a militia, they are getting a point across with music. I'd recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Linkin Park or System of a Down so they can see where all these bands were inspired to become what they are now. A+

Out of Ashes - Dead by Sunrise - Review

I bought this album because Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, is in this band. And yes, you guessed right. He is lead singer. Don't get me wrong, I love Linkin Park, but this was total let down. It kind of sounds like new Linkin Park mixed with Nirvana and a little heavier vocals. It doesn't sound like a bad idea, but this was still a disappointment. It doesn't have very deep melodies, the lyrics DEFINITELY need some working on, and in a nutshell, it was just flat-out boring. There may have been one or two good tracks, but that's it. Fort Minor is completely different, besides having a member from Linkin Park as well. I recommend you do not buy this album. The only tracks worth buying are Crawl Back In and My Suffering. Crawl Back In is a little more lyrically sufficient than the others, but still gets boring quickly. D+
What to Download: Crawl Back In and My Suffering
What parents may get mad about: This is mostly a clean album, except there is some violent material and there are one or two h-bombs and one s-bomb.

The Rising Tied - Fort Minor - Review

I decided to get this a year or two ago because this is Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park's side project. At the time, I had just finished listening to Out of Ashes by Dead by Sunrise, and was disappointed. (I'm posting a review of that after this one) I wasn't expecting much from this one, considering the disappointment from Out of Ashes. I usually listen to an album all the way through listening to each song once. But after hearing Remember the Name, I quickly thought, "Let me hear that 8 or 9 more times." After that, I listened to the rest of the album, expecting girls and drugs like most other rap albums, but this was different. It's a change. A good change. Not having to listen to those themes all the way through. Yes it has it's fair amount of f-bombs, but not as often as the Jay-Z or Eminem's of the world. Some people have criticized it for being accused of being targeted to towards children who hate rap, or that it borrows beats from Linkin Park. Just because this does not sound like Eminem, doesn't mean it isn't decent rap. In my opinion, it's rap done right, no matter how old I am or what music I'm in to. A

What to download: Hit songs Remember the Name, Where'd You Go, Believe Me, and a few others like Kenji, Petrified, and In Stereo.
What parents may get mad about: It has a fair amount of cursing, but it's not really a big habit. There is also a song called Cigarettes, but it has more to do with how music can change you, like a cigarette.

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance - Review

First of all, yes, I was introduced to My Chemical Romance from listening to The Black Parade. The album where they supposedly, "sold out". This is the same with Green Day, I was first introduced to them through American idiot. Well, when that came out, that was the age I actually started to care about the radio, and what came on the radio. For a while, I was happy with The Black Parade. That was the one that topped the charts and everything right? It HAS to be their best one! For that sake, I was wrong... kind of. This is My Chemical Romance's darkest and most powerful album. No doubt. I still don't think The Black Parade "sold out" My Chemical Romance. Sure, they ditched the heavier vocals and darker lyrics, but that doesn't mean they "sold out". If they "sold out" they would have turned into Far East Movement or The Jonas Brothers. Which they didn't. Now, on to the album. I liked all the tracks. Softer songs like Helena and To the End were great, but the songs like You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us In Prison, I'm Not Okay, and Give 'Em Hell, Kid were great and were different from the My Chemical Romance I know considering they were a lot heavier. But overall, the most emotional and incredible song on the whole album was I Never Told You What I Do For A Living. That song is by far their best song they have ever written. EVER. Trust me, just listen to it.What I thought was great were the songs like Hang 'Em High where it starts out like a jolly song and then turns into a heavy masterpiece. If you are a My Chemical Romance fan then this should definitely be in your CD or iTunes library or whatever. A-

What to download: Helena, Give 'Em Hell Kid, You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us In Prison, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), The Ghost of You, Thank You For the Venom, and Hang 'Em High. I Never Told You What I Do For A Living,
What your parents may get mad about: The fact that it is considered an emo band under some circumstances, which the leader of the band says it's bullcrap. It's still not dark enough to get out of touch with my comfort zone, but that's coming from a 12 year old.

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys - My Chemical Romance

Danger Days will be available on November 22, 2010. I'm really excited. Like Linkin Park did a little while a ago, they have already released two songs off of the album, Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) and The Only Hope for Me Is You. Both, especially Na Na Na do not go as deep as their past songs have. Still, I have high expectations for this album, and planning on pre-ordering it.

Just look at these great glasses I found at the eye store! (me looking like a weirdo at an eye store)

Awake by Skillet Album Review

This is my favortie album by them. It's a good landmark for the Christian rock group. Before you stereotype them, they aren't trying to convert you with their music. So still pick up this album. I like how they mixed the male and female vocals and still pulled it off nicely. my favorite tracks were Hero, Monster, and Awake and Alive. Those were the most popular songs according to iTunes last time I checked. The other two favorites of mine were It's Not Me It's You, and Sometimes. Those were both on Skillet's heavier side, which I like. The cover I think is supposed to be related to Lazarus. B

What to Download:
Hero
Monster
Awake and Alive
Sometimes
It's Not Me It's You

Let the Right One In Review

Let the Right One In. MPAA: R
This movie came to my attention when I found out the new movie Let Me In was a remake of this great foreign film. It was a LOT better than I thought it would be. This was because I don't think much of most foreign films. Of course I like the Jet Li's of the world, but others just don't stand out to me. People have said it is a ripoff of Twilight. I disagree with that. The only thing the same about it is a vampire girl and a human boy fall in love... kind of. It never really gets too serious between the two, unlike Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, who make a vampire baby. Is there a serial killer in Twilight as a main theme? Do vampires sparkle in Let the Right One In? The answer to these questions is no. Overall, this is a film I would recommend this to people who aren't expecting a blood fest, people who aren't expecting Twilight, and people who are patient. (This film takes a while to get into) Grade: A

The Only Good Metalcore Band.

Bring me the Horizon. I actually like this for some reason. Diamonds Aren't Forever is a good song. But that's about it. For the record, I don't really like this particular album shown here. (I actually REALLY hate it) So don't go looking up this album. I would rather not post the picture of the albums I like, because, lets just say they weren't really "appropriate".
